Here is the pattern for the second washcloth from my mini gift project. This pattern works very easily but slightly slower than the rised brik stitch washcloth. However, it is beautiful stitch and I think it will look good on scarves, blankets or a mat/rug.
The yarn I used is 100% cotton and 4mm hook.
Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Tr/rf - (raised treble at the front)
Tr/rb - (raised treble at the back)
How to crochet Ripple stitch
Chain multiple of 2 stitches + 2 (I worked 42 stitches for my washcloth)
Row 1 (RS): dc in the 3rd chain from the hook,1 double in each ch to end. Turn
Row 2: Ch1 , skip 1st, 1sc into each st to end
Row 3: Ch3 (counts as 1 dc), skip 1st, *1tr/rf around dc below next st, 1dc into next st; repeat from *to the end. Turn
Row 4: Ch1 , skip 1st, 1sc into each st to end
Row 5: Ch3 (count as 1dc), skip 1st, *1dc into next st, 1tr/rf around dc below next st; rep from * to last 2 sts, 1 dc into each of last 2 sts, turn.
Repeat rows from 2-5 as many times as needed to reach the size you wish.
*Description of the special stitches:
Tr/rf - wrap the yarn around the hook, insert the hook from front and from right to left around the post of the stitch from the previous row, then complete the stitch as you would normally do
Tr/rb - wrap the yarn around the hook, insert the hook from behind and from right to left around the post of the stitch from the previous row, then complete the stitch as you would normally do.
Happy crocheting! :)
