These days I am working on a gift made of washcloths which I will put in a small crochet basket. I will post the patterns for all washcloths as well as for the basket at the end. I hope you enjoy this project.
Here I start with the pattern for the first washcloth for which I used cotton yarn, Drops Paris, and 5mm hook. To finish the project there is a need of tapestry needle to wave in the ends.
The pattern for the raised brick stitch starts with a chain, which has number of stitches multiple of 4 + 1. For this washcloth I worked chain of 41.
Row 1: (wrong side row) 1 tr in the 4th ch from hook, 1 tr in each ch to end. Turn
Row 2: 3 ch, skip first tr, *1 FRDTR around the next tr, 1 tr in each of the next 3 tr. Then repeat from * finishing the last two stitches of the row with 1 FRDTR around the last tr and 1 tr in the thirds of chain 3. Turn.
Row 3: 2 ch, skip first tr, *1 BRTR around FRDTR form Row 2, then 1FRTR around the next 3 tr. Repeat from *, ending the row with 1 BRTR around last FRDTR, 1 FRTR around 3 ch. Turn.
Row 4: 3 ch, skip first FRTR, 1 TR in each of nex 2 sts, *1 FRDTR around next frtr (the centre 1 of 3),1 tr in each next 3 sts. Repeat from* finishing the last tr in the second chain from 2 ch of Row 3. Turn.
Row 5: 2 ch, skip the first tr, 1FRTR round each of the next 2 tr, *1 BRTR around FRDTR, 1 FRTR around each of 3 tr. Repeat from *, working last FRTR around 3 ch. Turn.
Row 6: 3 ch, skip first frtr, *1FRDTR around next FRTR, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts. Repeat from *, ending the row with 1FRDTR around last FRTR, 1 tr in 2nd of the 2 ch. Turn.
Repeat Row 3 to 6 three more times or, depending on your tension and if you use different yarn and hook, until you have square cloth.
Working around the borders:
Crochet 1 dc around as follow: On the sides of the tr and chain 3, crochet 2 dc. On the sides of the 2 ch crochet just 1 dc. On the top and the starting chain crochet 1 dc in every stitch.
The rounds I have done by working 1 additional dc in each corner so they became rounded.
For the second row of the border I used the woven stitch which is: *1 dc, 1 ch, skip 1 ch. Repeat from * all around the washcloth.
I will add more details and pictures these days and will correct if there are any errors above.
Happy crochet!
